Safety — For children and young people

Your safety at AGMS

When you take part in an AGMS exam, event or other activity, you have the right to feel safe and respected.

An AGMS examiner or staff member should be professional and kind. They should explain what is happening, respect your personal space, and listen if you say you are worried or uncomfortable.

‍

You can speak up

If something does not feel right, you can tell a parent, carer, teacher, another adult you trust, or AGMS. You will not lose marks or be treated badly because you raised a genuine safety concern.

‍

You can tell us if

  • someone made you feel unsafe, frightened, embarrassed or uncomfortable;
  • someone touched you in a way that worried you;
  • someone sent you inappropriate or secret messages;
  • someone asked you to keep something about an AGMS activity secret;
  • you saw something happen to another child;
  • you were treated unfairly because of who you are; or
  • you are not sure what happened but want to talk about it.

‍

You can use our Tell AGMS About a Safety Concern form. You can ask an adult you trust to help you. You can also contact safe@agms.edu.au.

‍

If you need urgent help

If you or another child is in immediate danger, call 000 or ask a trusted adult to call for you.
